Memories of Jojo
Hi. my Diorama is about my son Jonathon. He was diagnosed at birth with Cystic Fibrosis. He was sick all his life. CF is a genetic disorder that causes severe lung infections and pancreatic problems. Jonathon had pnumonia over 200 times in the twenty years he was alive. He also had diabetes and an eating disorder. In November of 2006, he was offered a double lung transplant. In January, 2007, he decided he was done. He turned the transplant down. Jonathon loved a group called Insane Clown Posse, or ICP. My diorama is a group of things that he valued and loved. I have tried and tried to figure out how to put it on our blog but it doesnt seem to work. So i am writing this instead. I will keep trying to put it on here. If I cant then I will put a picture of him on here instead.

ok. i finally got my pics down on our blog. the high museum was great. there is so much beautiful artwork. there was a pair of portraits on the first floor "the deacons visit" and "the neighbors" by John George Brown, painted in 1881, the first one is a picture of an old woman and the deacon sitting in a parlor. the old woman is sitting with knitting in her hands and has a sweet, attentive look about her, while the deacon speaks. the next portrait is of the same woman sitting with her neighbor. it appears that they are gossiping away about something. they both have silly looks on there faces. it is almost the opposite of the other. this was my favorite work. another one that i really liked was a portrait of a group of boys fighting. it is a picture by n.c. wyeth, done in 1930 of tom sawyer. a work that made me sad was by eastman johnson, called "life in the south" it amazes me that there was so much hatred in those days. i am so happy that those days have gone on by. i would be so ashamed of the people around me. it is time for us to forget those awful times and move on. this work also identifies a moment in history that was terrible. a work that i liked but would never take home with me and that shocked me was called "gospel bike. it was very funny in a stange kind of way. the artists name was howard finster and it was made in 1990. it was most definitly folk art. it was made with all kinds of objects aside from the bike itself. the bike sits on formed concrete that is embede with pieces of glass and nuts and bolts, marbles scraps of tile and assorted other stuff. the bike is also covered with "stuff" and has writings and sayings from the bible. all of finsters work was full of verses from the bible. the part of the museum that i liked best was the renaissance art. there is so much to see and admire. it amazes me that these works have survived as long as they have. through so many wars and times of turmoil. the statue at the front of the museum by rodin was dedicated to the high museum of atlanta after a plane crash took the lives of 120 members of our museum were killed in a plane crash.
