Robin Antar is known for her legendary lifelike stone sculptures. Antar began sculpting at the age of fourteen. Some of Antar's work of art includes Italian shoes, cookies, M & M’s, diesel jacket, boxing gloves and jeans. As for her current projects, they include two monuments to American culture: a giant size Heinz Ketchup bottle and a bag of potato chips. The fine detail of her sculpting is identical to the specific object. Antar literally "freezes" the objects in time. If you take a picture of something then it is considered as recorded history over time. This is an analogy of what Antar does except that she records history of modern culture by sculpting it into stone. The actual object may change over the years, but what she sculpts into stone will last forever.

ARTIST'S STATEMENT

I carve out of stone objects from day-to-day life, "Freezing" the objects in time, creating a visual record of our culture. I record markings and symbols that reflect an object's life and use-the wear and tear-the creases, folds, dents and crevices. Because the stone will out live the actual objects, they become a recording of history.

The object is my model and reference point. The objects that I select contain shapes and forms that attract my senses and whimsy. My stone carvings are done in life-scale with such a degree of realism, which confounds the eye, defying the viewer to discern the sculpture from the original object. I also incorporate custom-made stains, paints, plastics, gold leaf, and other materials.
